Our favourite advertising gaff of the year (not ours obviously)

E-mail

One of our activities is recruitment advertising. In fact, we're pretty good at it. Our recruitment advertising team supports HR Managers and their departments at a diverse range of clients nationwide and beyond. In recruitment advertising terms alone, we're a UK top 20 player.

This month, we had to laugh out loud at an item you may have seen in the news. The Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen University Hospital NHS Trust had uploaded a job themselves to an online job board for a Trainee Anaesthetist which ended with the words 'Usual rubbish about equal opportunities employer etc'. the offending wording has since been removed (one of the advantages of online is that you can change things) and replaced with reference to the trust being a 'Stonewall diversity champion employer'.

Of course had they used CMS for their recruitment advertising as several other major NHS Trusts do, then the problem would never had arisen in the first place.

CMS MD Keynote Speaker at 2011 Charity Buying Conference in the Tower of London

E-mail

For centuries, the Tower of London was the place where the non-prudent could literally lose their heads. This week, it's the setting for the national Charity Buying Group 2011 Conference and CMS Managing Director Andrew Batty will be the keynote speaker addressing delegates on Charity Marketing.

Creative Marketing Services have been the leading advertising agency in the charity sector for over twenty years and our client list includes many of Britain's top charities. Over the past two decades, we've helped charities to fundraise millions, to recruit thousands of staff and volunteers, to achieve new objectives and to lobby successfully for change.

Marketing has changed substantially since the turn of the century as many new marketing tools have been added to tried and tested techniques. At the conference in The Tower of London, Andrew Batty will outline some case studies showing how charities have used new marketing techniques such as social networking, e-marketing and QR codes to deliver substantial success for a modest investment.

'Facebook, Linked In, YouTube, SEO and PPC have altered the marketing landscape' said Andrew. 'These do not replace conventional marketing tools but add to them. Organisations which understand the strengths and weaknesses of the tools in the marketing toolbox and how to deploy them to the maximum advantage will turn their marketing budgets from overheads to investments'.
