Heinz beans ad banned – is food advertising as memorable as it once was?

The Advertising Standards Authority has banned the current Heinz Baked Beans ad which features young people ‘learning the can song’ using empty cans. The ASA cited health and safety concerns.

Our concerns were more simple. It didn’t push any story about the product, only what to do with an empty can, which you could do with any empty can, even tinned strawberries.

There was a time when Heinz did iconic ads. Remember ‘ a million housewives every day pick up a tin of beans and say…’

We’ve devised advertising for food brands and supermarkets, we’ve 30 years experience in fmcg brands and their effective marketing. Hope you’ll talk to us about yours.

Guess who’s leading in academy marketing – CMS the education marketing specialists

As schools seek the independence that academy status brings, more and more are contacting CMS because of our extensive experience in the education sector. We’ve handled numerous projects for schools, FE colleges, universities and now academies, projecting their appeal to prospective parents, students and teachers alike.

We were on there for Leeds Trinity’s 50th

Leeds Trinity University is fifty years old since it began life at Trinity College and All Saints College in 1966. To mark the occasion, friends over those years were invited to afternoon tea on the terrace of the Houses of Parliament on October 12th including our MD Andy Batty.

We’ve been heavily linked with what later became Leeds Trinity University over our past thirty years too, taking students, arranging courses, giving lectures and being a founder member of their active Business Clubimg_4932

UK marketing spend to increase despite Brexit

The latest Bellweather report published by the IPA, the professional body for UK advertising agencies, predicts 1.9% growth in 2016 having been revised up from a previously projected 0.2% decline forecast in July, shortly after the Brexit vote. Advertisers are now much more confident supporting our own experience that clients are confident about their potential growth and marketing’s ability to produce that.

Hot news: CSR – We help a young entrepreneur with his first retail outlet

matt-lewisWe’re proud to say we helped and mentored Matt Lewis in his endeavours to open his first retail outlet. Matt was one of several dozen young people who approach us each year for a placement. We only accept a few and Matt stood out as our MD Andy says: ‘At the age of 18 he had already identified a gap in the market and created his own website. We helped him fine tune his business plan, gave him a grounding in digital by placing him in our digital team, got our creative team to work on branding with him, the PR team to work on a press release and I made enquiries with retail contacts which led to this first opening in a major shopping centre’.

Matt’s business is now called Vercity, and it opens Mon 18th July in Harrogate’s prestigious Victoria Shopping Centre. Go and support this outstanding young entrepreneur and see his truly awesome range of men’s accessories or buy online at
