Meet the Key staff

Andrew Batty

Nearly 30 years experience in advertising and marketing, 23 of them creating and building CMS. Andrew's contribution to the profession was marked in 2002 by the rare awarding of an IPA fellowship, whose alumni include the Saatchi brothers. Andrew is also a fellow of the Institutes of Direct Marketing, Chartered Institute of Marketing, Sales and Marketing Management and CAM Foundation. He is a past Chairman of the CIM in mid Yorkshire, national governor of CAM and visiting lecturer. He is Chairman of training body Yoract and head of regional training for the IPA.

Mark Good

Joined CMS in 1988 from another Leeds advertising agency and has now amassed more than twenty years experience in the profession. Mark has a well respected reputation in the business as a strategic media buyer with especial interest in off the page, direct mail and the grey market, and has written a number of reports on the subjects. He was elected to membership of the IPA in 1996 and became a board director in 1998. He is the planner behind hundreds of successful campaigns where innovative use of media has extracted the maximum amount of value from budgets.

Adele Chaplin

Adele joined CMS in 2001 and is now Recruitment Advertising Director. As such, she looks after her own portfolio of clients and keeps a watching eye on everyone else's. Clients appreciate her unflappable ‘can do’ style. Her BA Hons in International Business and Innovation gives her an especial interest in clients’ international recruitment.

Nick Pedder

Nick has spent a considerable amount of his early life abroad prompting a keen interest in international current affairs. A graduate of the University of Leeds, Nick was Recruitment Projects Co-ordinator for Central Manchester and Manchester Children's University Hospitals NHS Trust before joining the CMS team as one of our Recruitment Advertising Managers. There he introduced many innovative and far reaching cost-saving projects, transforming the reputation of the department by analysing and improving operating systems, organising focus groups, and designing questionnaires to quantify the subjective perceptions of both staff and candidates. Outside the agency, his interests include travel, hill walking, camping, reading and music.

Chris Hughes

Chris worked for a number of leading agencies producing advertising, direct marketing and sales promotion campaigns for Asda, Bradford & Bingley, Yorkshire Water and many others before joining CMS as Creative Director. She shapes and directs our creative response and has been responsible for a number of award winning campaigns.

James Ritchie

James joined the CMS as a Key Account Manager from Atkins Group. Educated at the University of Lincoln where he got a 2.1 BA Hons in Advertising & Marketing, James is brings strong organisational skills to a demanding position looking after the needs of a number of clients. He's a keen sportsman, having been team captain of local cricket and football teams and completing the gruelling Wetherby to Filey cycle ride for charity. Coincidentally, he is the second member of staff to be employed by CMS with exactly the same name.

Steve Guilfoyle

Steve joined CMS from Tribal and his col, calm and collected nature are a great asset to the CMS team. A keen sportsman and committed community volunteer, Steve has combined the two in raising funds for a skateboard park in the village where he lived.

Paul Somerville

Paul heads up the CMS creative team. From early days in Edinburgh, Paul has honed his craft in a number of northern agencies and design studios before joining CMS. Outside the office, Paul gives some of his time to a very worthy cause. He is a volunteer fireman and heads to the fire station some evenings in his fire engine red sports car.

Mandy Carstairs

Mandy is the Financial Controller at CMS and will be your contact on all points to do with invoicing and credit control. Away from the office she is is busy mother of two.
